January 24th/January 25th
- Role of music in the Civil Rights Movement- listened to "We Shall Overcome" and talked about why it was the anthem of the movement. Then broke into groups and analyzed a specific song. Groups then shared their song.
- Activity- Civil Rights Movement timeline: everyone got either a picture or description of an event from the CRM. Found the person who had the matching picture or description. Then partners found out which event they had and when it happened. Finally, as a class we created a human timeline of the events and shared what they were.
- Discussed the final exam- study guide is available from a post last week. You can have all period, no music until you are finished.
- B level task due today, A level on the day of your final.

January 20th/January 21st
- Civil Rights Movement Formative Quiz- this is the one you get points for taking, not how well you do
- Cornell Note Activity- Black Power- worked on this in groups, can turn in for a C level. The answers to the questions and terms are in Chapter 21 Section 5. For each term you need to not only define it but draw a symbol that represents it.
- Completed oral defenses.

January 18th/January 19th
- Activity- Looked at an example of a Literacy Test, attempted to complete it
- Notes- Civil Rights Protests and the Political Response (you can turn this in for a C level or extra credit)
- Worked on C levels and completed oral defenses. C levels were due today.

Reminder, all missing work from the 1950s unit is due by this Friday, the 21st, at 3 p.m.!!!!

January 13th/January 14th
- Activity: Sit-ins- worked in groups to read 4 newspaper articles about the Greensboro sit-ins. Created a chart of the positive and negative information in each article, and then discussed the articles as a class.
- Read an oral history from Freedom's Children- James Roberson organized the sit-ins in Huntsville, Alabama
- Discused the strategy of sit-ins, what it must have taken to participate.
- Worked on C levels and completed oral defenses.

- Stay and Stray Activity- Shared baseball card of Civil Rights leader

January 7th/January 10th
- Notes- MLK, Jr. and nonviolence (has links to several YouTube videos, including his "I Have a Dream" speech)
- Civil Rights Leader Baseball Card- we went to the library and researched a specific civil rights leader and you created a baseball card about your assigned leader. Baseball cards are due next class, it will be used to do an activity in class.
- Worked on C level tasks and completed oral defenses.

- Read and discussed an eyewitness account of the first day of school in Little Rock.
- Activity- worked in groups to complete a chart about the NAACP, National Urban League, CORE, SCLC, and SNCC. For each organization you need to know when it was founded, who it's leaders were, and what the features of the group were.
- Worked on C level tasks and completed oral defenses.
