November 19th/November 29th

  1. Watched an episode of I Love Lucy and Leave it to Beaver.
  2. While watching each episode, looked for examples of values held by people in the 50s; role of women, children, etc.
  3. Discussed each show individually- this will help you complete #12 on your C level tasks.
  4. Spent the rest of the period working on C level tasks and completing oral defenses.

November 17th/November 18th

  1. Went to the library to research the following:
  • The history of rock-n-roll- why was it seen as a form of rebellion
  • Assigned 50s musician/group- who were they, what was their contribution to rock-n-roll, popular songs.
  1. Prepare a 1-2 minute presentation- either a poster of PowerPoint. Need to have a clip of one of their songs.
  2. Worked the rest of the period on C level tasks and completed oral defenses.

November 15th/November 16th

  1. Discussed Life magazine photos- what did they tell you about life in the 1950s
  2. Notes- 1950s Culture- if you take cornell notes on this lecture you can use it as one of your C levels (replaces cornell notes on chapter 20). We didn't finish it today, we'll finish it when we come back from Thanksgiving
  3. Worked on C level tasks and did oral defenses

Don't forget this week is the end of the 6 week grading period. All missing work is due by 3:30 p.m. this Friday, the 19th.

November 10th/November 12th

  1. Life Magazine photo analysis- we went to the library and looked at Life magazines from the 1950s. Then everyone picked a picture and completed the Photo Analysis worksheet.
  2. The remainder of time was spent on completing Cold War assignments or getting started on 1950s tasks.

The end of the 6 weeks is quickly approaching! All missing work is due by 3:30 p.m. on Friday, November 19th.

Parent conferences are Tuesday, November 23rd from 12-3 and 5-8. Students can earn extra credit if parents attend conferences (more if students come with the parents). Parents- please contact me if you would like to set up a specific time.

November 4th/November 5th

  1. Cold War Unit Test
  2. B level due today! A level due next class.

November 2nd/November 3rd

  1. Reviewed for Cold War test- invidually explained key terms, etc. to entire class
  2. Went over questions missed on formative quiz from last week
  3. Discussed make up of the test and handed out the study guide
  4. Worked on C level tasks and completed oral defenses

October 29th/Novemeber 1st

  1. Cold War writing prompt group work- met with others who picked same position and discussed what main points and supports were being used
  2. Activity- The Continuing Cold War- working in groups found supporting facts for the 4 main ideas in section 4 of chapter 19
  3. Worked on C level tasks and completed oral defenses

October 27th/October 28th

  1. Cold War formative quiz- see me to make this up
  2. Cold War writing prompt- worked on this individually today. Not actually writing the essay but doing the outline. Can use your book to find information.
  3. Worked on C level tasks and completed oral defenses

October 25th/October 26th

  1. Read and discussed handout about Korean War- see me to get the handout
